NEW INFORMATION COMING TO THE BULLETIN

Happy New Year and thank you for your interest in keeping up-to-date on Billings City Council issues!

Here at the Billings City Council Bulletin, we’re not big believers in the “New Year, New You,” or “blank slate,” or “fresh start,” mindset many adopt this time of year. That’s not to say one shouldn’t be aspirational or aim to get back on track (for those of us who ate more chocolate and skipped more workouts than they should’ve this Holiday Season). We’re more keen on the Atomic Habits approach, where small changes in the system lead to big results.

Accordingly, we want to improve this newsletter with a few additional nuggets of information to help you get more engaged. Throughout 2023, we worked hard to expand our reach with the Bulletin, more than doubling the number of recipients on our list. We want to continue that trend in 2024 and provide more information about how you can easily get involved, so we’ll be adding the following new sections to the newsletter:

City Administrator Weekly Report: see the extra information City Council is digesting. Here you’ll find the City Administrator’s Weekly Report with regular updates to City Council on ongoing topics like the new City Hall project, Parks progress reports, and more.

Extracurricular Engagement: a quick look at other city meetings coming up during the week, how to attend, and what’s up for discussion.

Squeaky Wheel: find contact information for councilmembers and easily email the entire City Council. Plus, read all the emails sent to City Council. Find out what topics the public is chiming in on.

In Case You Missed It: a City of Billings success story that may have gone under the radar. Too often media headlines highlight the negative despite all the good things happening. We want to help share the positive.

WELCOME NEW COUNCILMEMBERS

Tonight is the first City Council meeting for two recently elected Councilmembers, Bill Kennedy and Scott Aspenlieder, representing Wards 3 and 4 respectively. They will both take their Oath of Office and begin their first four-year term with a reelection bid in 2027. We are thankful for their service and commitment to represent their constituents and make Billings a better community.
