As we celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week 2024 with our first official Tourism Week here in Billings, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce the amazing Visit Billings team. Today features Kyra Cousins, Visitor Manager.
What’s your favorite thing about working in the travel & tourism industry?
Meeting new people from across the states and internationally in addition to assisting them find awesome things to do in and around our city. I also like that I am learning something new every day within my role in tourism.
What’s your favorite ‘hidden gem’ in the city of Billings?
Evergreen Cafe or This House of Books
If you could give one piece of advice to a first time visitor to Billings, what would you let them know?
Visit our website for pre-planning and talk to the locals! They know the best spots.
When you think of the phrase “quintessentially Billings,” what comes to mind?
That we truly are the “outsiders” with all the “ins.” We might be the largest city with an industrial feel, but we’re also your trailhead to Yellowstone National Park, the Beartooth Highway, Little Big Horn Battlefield, Pompey’s Pillar, etc. Whether you leave from Billings and come back or spend your entire time in the city you’ll find that our local restaurants, breweries, distilleries, wineries, bakeries, retailers, arts & culture scene and outdoor recreation opportunities speak volumes. We are Montana’s city that offers a slice of everything.
What is your favorite local event? Favorite thing to do in the summer?
My favorite local event would have to be the farmers market downtown. My favorite thing to do in the summer is go camping or fishing.
