Chamber Listens – Other people’s ideas
Topic: Legislative/Local Public Policy
Local business should be able to prohibit people from carrying concealed weapons onto their property. We need a law that would allow owners to post their property that "No Concealed Weapons Allowed." I am tried of the gun nuts.
Let's get rid of the Tea Party legislators and elect some who will help our City. I like clean water. I like good roads. We need good schools. Government is not the enemy.
Get rid of our Tea Party legislators. They have done nothing but harm our state and our community. We need real leaders. We need to invest in education. We need to move forward, not backwards.
Do a one voice legislative reception. Look at Tulsa chamber.
Lets use the resources we have to clean up the litter along our roads. What resources do we have? Uh, lots of people with multiple DUI's. Make it a mandatory sentence for community service. Part or the majority of their community service can be wearing bright orange striped vests and pants as they clean garbage up all over our city.
We have a regional economy. Eastern Montana is growing and there are issues that impact us all. Rail service, air, water, energy policy...what about a regional chamber. We could develop an eastern Montana coalition for the legislature.
Please do something about the bums on 6th Ave and 27th St and elsewhere. It has gotten out of hand, all around the city. A cohesive plan needs to be implemented with the City, County, Downtown Alliance, Police, Businesses, etc., to fix this going forward.
Hello, Thank you for the opportunity to voice my ideas! Yes, keep Billings with a Conservative spirit to move ahead with innovative ideas and economy. The downtown is alive and vibrant with all the oil and gas boom. This is a dynamic city, lets keep it that way and not let it go downhill by becoming too liberal, with liberal ideas.... so many people are moving out of Denver because of this. Also the homeless need to get to work and the beggars on the street corners harrassing people, visitors, and locals are not good for business. It looks bad to have people loitering around the downtown drunk on bus benches downtown, yes, I have personally seen all this. It makes people especially women feel unsafe and when you sy no, they get aggressive like you owe them something. There are people that are unable to help their homelessness and those people should be helped to get on their feet and find employment... but for the most part these people are freeloaders on our city and a safety concern. Thank you, Paula
Casinos ... could the city do a study to determine if the tax revenue generated from casinos far outweighs the burden they put on our community. Zoning that restricts new casinos to a certain area. Create a Casino Street ... like Fremont in Vegas, where all the casinos are. It could become a tourist destination.
